Pageants are a contest that judges a girl on her poise and grace as she competes in the swimsuit, evening gown, interview, on-stage question and talent portion of the competition. There are Scholarship pageants which focus on furthering education and a platform as well as Beauty based pageants that focus more on the physical beauty of the participant. Whether you are looking for an evening gown to compete in or a cocktail dress for appearances, Peaches Boutique has the pageant dress for you. Peaches carries pageant dresses by the top pageant designers such as Tony Bowls, Sherri Hill, Prima Donna and MacDuggal Pageant.
All types of styles of dresses can be used for the many parts of a pageant. The most popular styles for competition evening gowns usually contain slits, trains and corsetted bodices. Fully beaded pageant dresses are also very common because they look absolutely fabulous under the spotlights on stage.
Let’s face it; no one is the perfect model size. That means that Pageant and prom dress alterations may be a necessary part of purchasing any Pageant dress. While alterations may be time consuming they are worth it if you want it to look perfect on you. When getting alterations you will want to ask to see a sample of the seamstresses work. You will also want to ask for an alteration quote before you leave your Pageant or prom dress with the seamstress, this way no one is surprised.
Adding Length: Our dresses usually fit the average height of 5’8”. All of the models shown in our photos are between the heights of 5’8” and 5’10”. Taller girls may want to consider doing the following: Making their pageant or prom dress a high low hem. High low hems are just as popular as floor length dresses. High low hems are shorter in the front (9” or more off the floor) and low in the back (how the dress normally fits). Another option would be to wear flats instead of heels; which would be more comfortable as well. You could also purchase a shawl or buy additional fabric to add to the bottom of the dress.
