The Quinceanera is a Hispanic tradition of a young girl budding into womanhood. It is a huge event in a 15 year olds life. The Quinceañera is filled with symbolic gestures and moments that signify a young girls transformation into a woman. The event starts with a mass and then ends with a fiesta. The most symbolic moment is the exchange of shoes. The 15 year old arrives in flats (those of a child) and leaves in high heels (signifying a woman).

Tip for promers: Wear your shoes around the house to break them in before the big dance. If you don't wear heels very often, practice will definately help to prevent any embarrassing falls during prom. New heels should always be worn in enough to cause the bottom front to get scuffed. Unscuffed bottom's can be very slippery.

It is really important to think of makeup as part of your prom ensemble. After selecting the perfect dress, all the pieces of hair and make-up will fall into place.  Here are a few pointers on how to embrace the hot trends and the do's and dont's of Prom makeup.  The "crimson look" is a bold statement of strength, a classic look that never goes out of style. Think red lips, very polished skin and simply defined neutral eyes. Christina Aguilera would be a modern day example of that look.
